Toyota celica vvti, year2000, 144.000kms
mine has a problem now, when I turn it on it doesn't go beyond 1000rpm, and when it heats up, it goes to 1500rpm, and sometimes it goes up and down from 1000 to 1500rpm.
Normally, before that, when is ok, it started at 2000rpm, and when it warmed up, it stays in 900 rpm. what could it be?

Yeah, remove the hose to the TB and spray carb cleaner into the rectangular like holes in front of & behind the throttle plate till full. Put hose back on. Jump in car & turn ignition on & off a couple of times without starting. Then crank. It will take a bit of cranking to clear the carb cleaner out.

but having lost what in old cars was called a shock (cold start), where the rotation jumped to 2000rpm («/-), is this a symptom of the need to clean the idle valve?
Sorry it was what caught my attention the most, and I know this is regulated by the ECU, commanded by......Idle valve?

Yes. Idle is entirely controlled by the ECU using the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV). Except '03+ where it is the ECU controlling the DBW throttle.

Can you send me a photo of the location on the Idle Air Control Valve car (IACV), and some tips on how to maintain it? if it doesn't bother you, and if it doesn't give you too much trouble, of course.

Keep in mind that this DOES NOT work on 03+ models as they entirely lack an IACV.

I'd try just spraying it out first instead of the complete removal. 😉

I forgot to say something that might add more for me.
I have the toyota celica stopped, I go for a drive on Sunday morning, for about 10 km. Is this what leads to these problems, I have two more cars, a toyota 2.0D 1998, 2C-E engine, for the day to day day and a lexus IS 220d for Sunday, the Celica is a collector's car, so it's parked

As long as you're getting it up to operating temprature at least once a week, that's perfectly fine.

The 1ZZ (your engine if it's a plastic intake manifold) has a common issue with the intake manifold rubber gaskets leaking, usually an engine light will set with a lean code but not always. Typical symptoms besides engine light are poor idle and poor running when cold that improves as the engine warms up. The gaskets are fairly easy to change with a lot of Youtube videos showing how as well as the gaskets being pretty inexpensive and easy to obtain from just about any parts store.

Yes my engine is the 1ZZ-FE, vvti, without the lift l. to date, no engine light has ever appeared, but the idea is that there are some rubber gaskets in the intake manifold, which wear out and need to be replaced (may not be my case, because the celica has 144.00km and I I ride it as an adult, 1500 to 2500 rpm, a maximum of 3500 to 4000 rpm on the highway). But there is one more knowledge of a maintenance point to take into account. Thanks

The gaskets fail more with age than miles or driving habits, the rubber compresses and becomes hard then fails to seal between the plastic manifold and the metal head since they expand at different rates when heating or cooling. At almost 23 years old I'd really suspect that those gaskets are leaking air into the engine, whether or not that your problem I cannot say. If you have access to a scan tool you could try to see what fuel trims are, if the trims are high positive values then there's like a vacuum leak and that's the most common source on the 1ZZ.

Buy some carby clean or Ether based starter spray..

Spray it around tge manifold and listen for a spike in revs. Or and this makes a mess.. wd40 and listen for a drop.
