Hi guys! :)

I´ve made a little brake modification, which works Plug&Play.
Perhaps it is of interest to you, so I took some photos.

Content:
Here in Europe, the prefacelift 99-02 Celica GT has a front brake disc diameter diameter of 255mm.
Then we have in Europe the Toyota Avensis (called Avensis T25 with 1AZ-FSE engine) with a
front brake disc diameter of 295mm.

The mounting specifications of the Avensis disc are identical to the Celica disc. 5x100mm circle, 55mm center diameter.
The bigger Avensis brake caliper and the holder fits exactly on the axle leg of the Celica.

The only thing is, that the disc brake dust cover must be modificated a little bit (bend over a bit, that the disc is not grinding on the disc dust cover).

Now, here are a few pics of my modification:

Here the difference in size Avensis vs. Celica:

A first fitting test without pads:

The dust cover must be modificated:

It is very close, but it fits:

Here a little video, with the disc in motion
<iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4CNHAP3lEZA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Then I was sandblasting and priming the brake calipers:

Now, I replaced the piston gasket, the dust boots, greased the sliding pins
and painted the calipers:

Then, I build in the new brake. All Plug&Play. Here the final pics:

Here, a few month later , with performance discs:

The brake is working perfect. Very good braking performance compared to the original brake.
Much better than before, but not too aggressive, can be regulated well - just perfect!

I hope you liked my little photo story! :)

Best regards from Germany,
Ben

I like that it's plug-n-play and that it's a bigger kit overall compared to OEM Celica parts.
Very convenient compared to the ST205 GT-4 brake conversion.

DUDE! CRX_fan I freaking love you man! Your work is seriously some of the best for the Celica community! Please keep it up

Also quick question are the Avensis calipers single or dual piston?

i dont think i saw it but what method did you use to mod the brake cover, just extend and weld?

Again, great idea and work. And the rear interests me too

I only bent it over a little bit with a plier! :)

How about rear brakes? Would the Avensis rears be plug and play?
When I look at the specifications of the Avensis and Celica disc, it seems like that its possible!

Here:

Only the hole for the wheel nuts is a little bit bigger!

I only have to knew, if the caliper fits to the axle leg of the Celica...

Really nice work as always, but damn those GT brakes was small compared to the euro GTS =D
Oh yeah.... :D
Our GTS have 275mm brakes. And the GT Facelift 02-05 the same 275mm.
Only our GT Pre-Facelift have brakes, which are smaller than the discs from a Honda Fit (Jazz) :AF:

Would this work for a gt disc brake conversion?
Parts off non celicas are always cheaper even oem
Well here in Canada I would assume the same with all of you.
Sully in demand haha.

Euro gt's have rear disk?
Or am I correct to assume his car is a GTS?

Fair enough, I'll be looking into swapping my drums out for this cars rear, and if I can find all the parts swap the front disks too

These are 295mm and stock GTS are 275mm. The size difference is minimal and imo not worth the price and hassle of getting the calipers, rotors and pads to do this. I'd be wiser to save up for a Wilwood upgrade from Fastbrakes.
But.... racecar.
