Hi there guys! I bought my car about 8 months ago, and I discovered in January that my coolant reservoir container was below low. I filled it full and now, when taking my engine plastics off, I discovered the coolant in my container was back to exactly the same level as last time I filled it up.

I have no over-heating issues and the car runs great. As I can see there are no leaks. The car was hot when I checked the level today, if that makes any difference.

Did I not fill it up properly last time? I heard that sometimes you have to do some rounds of refilling and running the engine, maybe that has something to do with it? What do you guys recon, leak or just some filling issues.
I live in a cold climate if that makes any difference (snow from October to April).

- Thank you!

keep an eye on your coolant level:blah:, and top it off with Toyota extended life coolant. Just to double check, on your coolant resovoir there should be a knob you can twist, make sure it is twisted shut. Inspect for puddles check hoses and their clamps.

Have you gotten any Type of engine work? Got any type of check engine light? is your car over heating, it's tough reading minds:newbie:

I had this problem and it ended up being my water pump going bad. The coolant was only low in the rear portion of the reservoir though.

How low? Mine sits on exactly low when the car is cold and rises to exactly full when the car is hot. If I add to full when it's cold, I can see wetness on the overflow tube and it slowly goes back to low cold and full hot on it's own.

Dude, I have more posts the you. Like I stated in the original post. The car runs great, no overheating issues. No check engine lights, no type of engine work.

I will check and see for any leaks from hoses etc, and post a couple pictures.

Thanks!

Hey! I took some photos and a video, watching it now; I dont think it is the best idea to post it, (17 day grad party, pretty drunk).

But I opened the small cap and the main filler cap on the reservoir. Coolant was sneaking it self up in the container again, this time it went way over full.

Was it just vacuum in the system, that now has been cleared out?

As far as I know, there has not been filled any coolant on the car the 45000 miles it has gone. I filled it to full (in january) and when I opened the small cap beside it (today) the amount that I filled last time (january) and some more, came up in the reservoir again. Any tips on what is going on?
