New 2000 Celica GT owner here. I am experiencing vertical image movement in the driver side mirror. I took the mirror off from the door after popping off the black plastic insert on the inside of the door where the mirror mounts (triangular shape). Behind it I removed three 10mm bolts, and had to pop the door panel (held in place by 6 screws) off to unhook the wire harness. After removing the mirror assembly, I removed 3 more screws to separate the upper assembly from the base, but could go no further. How do I get the mirror out of the upper assembly to check out the internal workings? One of the other posts mention that someone stole the glass mirror only. Does it just pop off? I tried but not to aggressively because I did not want to damage it. The Toyota manual does not show any details for the mirror dis-assembly, so I assume you have the buy the mirror as a unit? Thanks in advance.

The glass just pops right off if you know how to do it. You don't need to disassemble anything.
