Well i replaced the clutch on my sisters car last weekend...and this is the 4th/5th time ive ever replaced a clutch on a celica....anyhow it grabs real good but for some reason its slipping in lift, in 2nd and up........when lift kicks in at a little over 6000 rpms I can hear the lift kick in but the car isnt pulling, the clutch slips.................i though it could be grease on the flywheel or something but then again it grabs when not in lift..... Anyone encountered this problem? could it be the lift bolts?

Someone please help cuz this is giving me nightmares everynight!!!!

Did you replace the pressure plate? Is the engagement point correct or is it high?

I will assume that you replaced the throwout bearing too, then?

Is it possible that you did get some grease or oil on the flywheel?

Clutch Slips:

1. Too little pedal free travel
2. Driver's foot rides clutch pedal
3. Bent, frozen or worn linkage
4. Transmission out of alignment

5. Grease or oil on clutch facings from:
A. Throwout bearing
B. Engine rear main bearing
C. Release levers
D. Pilot bearing
E. Transmission

6. Insufficient clutch spring pressure due to weak, wrong or non-uniform springs.
7. Improper release lever adjustment
8. Distorted and warped pressure plate
9. Cushion springs bent while refacing plate
10. Throwout bearing riding noses on release levers after clutch is engaged
11. Clutch cover parts binding
