Engine idle at 1100rpm

Well my check engine light came on a while back when my car started auto revving and idling at 2000, then dropping to 600rpm. I took it to the shop had them to a quick fix on it. Now it idles at 1100rpm.
Before my car had problems it would start at 1000rpm (when i started the car) and once it was running for a good 5 minutes the idle would go down to 700rpm and stay there. It used to always idle at 700rpm with no problem now even after driving the car for a while it stays between 1100 and 1000rpm. Is there anything wrong with this?

(before when it would go from 2000rpm to 600rpm it felt like if it dropped any lower than 600rpm the engine would cut off, 700rpm is a fine idle for me and has always been that way since i got the car in 03')

ok well how do i go about cleanin the MAFS, people say alcohol, others say not to, some say brake cleaner? some say not to. The guys who fixed my car said there was excess carbon on my MAFS but they were able to burn most of it off. So basically my MAFS is ruined and wont read right? then should i just buy a new one? is it beyond cleaning or can i clean it?

& that quick fix was?

I suspect they adjusted the throttle stop screw up.. which.. @ best, is a temporary fix. Sounds like your initial problem could have been MAFs, IAC, or both. Now, I suspect that you'll have to clean both & reset the throttle stop screw. You can check... by looking @ it... I believe mine has yellow thread sealer on the outside as a marker... so if it was moved or adjusted... you'd know it.
