What Does Unbolted Mean? Unbolting The Muffler Assembly From After The Resonator? Or Unbolting Everything From The Manifold?
I thought unbolted ment before the muffler assembly and after the resonator.

If you replace your exhaust after you unbolt the stock exhaust you technically have an unbolt exhaust.. if you wanna see what it sounds like just Unbolt the exhaust at the midpipe flange... its right in front of the rear passenger wheel. Its extremely loud.

Curt705 ive never heard of anybody having problems with an unbolted exhaust before? Could you please explain how it could damage something?

Let me clarify: What I said was running open header can cause damage.

What are the benefits of unbolted exaust hp wise? I've taken it off once and drove around a little and it sounded very untuned and like ASS! I want just a tiny bit more noise from my exaust like a deaper tone when I get on it, which exaust is next up for that after the OE 1. Thanx guys for all the info above.

there are no benfits to running an unbolted exhuast except for sounding like ass...as for best exhaust kazuma #1 gains for the celica if you can tolerate the noise TRD #2 and as for axle backs..just pick a brand name one..they all give the same hp gain...best deep tone axle backs i've heard are the HKS, Invidia, Greddy and Apexi

first of all the TRD kazuma is the same exact thing as unbolting the exhaust at the mid pipe due to the fact kazuma is just a straight pipe. For a humm at low rpms (3.5k and below) and a lil louder less deeper sound above low rpms you would want to get a HKS Hi Power I have it and thats exactly what i was looking for in an exhaust and it sounds just that way :)

How long have you had the HKS? I've heard they rust out at the top of the muffler can after a while. HKS Does sound sweet though!!!!

I just had a custom set up made. I ordered all my components from Vibrant. All stainless, all two and a quarter inch. High flow cat, 8inch bottle resonator(which I'm either going to change or just add vibrants ultra quiet resonator), two stainless oxygen sensor bungs, and a carbon fibre evo muffler can with a titanium blue tip. You can get borla or other name brand stainless tubing but go with a no name length and it'll work just as well and you'll save about 45-75 bucks. I went with 10 feet, just make sure it's seamless, not rolled and welded.
The guy that built mine did an amazing job, kept everything tight to the chasis and the tip is right in the openning to my TRD rear bumper where it should be, not sticking out a foot like most of the hondas. He followed the stock routing execpt for just a little bend around the back wheel and suspension and straight out the muffler.
It's still got the sillencer in it, it's loud but not too loud and sounds good. Really high end,not fart canish at all. Everyone tells me that it sounds really great, and I have a gt. Gains were really good too! I'll hopefully have some picks soon, hopefully the other resonator will be on and it's quiet enough to run without the silencer, I don't like the look of a silencer.

Nope, Kazuma is 2.5" (stock is 2.25") and is mandrel bent (stock is crush bent, horribly at some places). Unbolting the axle back will gain a bit of power in upper RPMs due to less restriction, but not as much as an aftermarket exhaust.

After the manifold = open header = REALLY REALLY LOUD
Yeah but it sounds friggin glorious - I reccomend everyone try it for just 15 seconds or so (don;t drive around like that) just to appreciate the beauty of a 2ZZ in its completely unmuffled glory.

Oh - wear earplugs and warn the neighbors ;)

ive had it for maybe 2 - 3 months and if it does rust through ill just get it patched... and if it happens right before im ready for turbo ill just cut up the exhaust and have a straight pipe from the engine back with a HKS Tip :)

I don;t know that the one they sell for the GTS is the same, but I do love my HKS Hiper 3" racing exhaust I have for the alltrac. 3" - no baffles in the can or resonator, all mandrel bent - its a work of art and sounds awsome.

Damn tip is too frigign big though - looks like a bloody watermelon cannon. I painted it flat black so its less noticeable, but it always makes me think of sir mixalot.. "Its just so Big, and Round, and Out there"...

Nice man! I so want a turbo, or the Blitz system, running a higher compression pulley and an intercooler, too bad they don't make a good supercharger kit for us 1zz'ers :furious: If I hit some big money anytime soon I'm gettin' a trial 3zz and then run a Hass kit intercooled and sprayed. Plus I'd udgrade everything, drive axles, LSD, 6speed, and a C-one Version 2 hood, oh to dream!

I heard somewhere someone was planning on getting custom exaust which can go wide open before the cat when you hit a button and the flaps open. He said he was gonna hook the flap to the LIFT Control so when he hits lift the flaps will open and have open pipes and be loud as hell!!
