Oh yes they do. Going from a 4" tip/2.5" outlet to a 1" silencer means LOTS of restriction. Less air flow = less power output. Not to mention your car will sound constipated.

If you need to put a silencer into your exhaust, then that exhaust is not for you.

High Flow Cat?

I commute in my GT-S, so I don't want significantly more noise, but would like a performance increase. From reading the forums, it appears that the major bottleneck is the cat, not the muffler. Isn't a high flow cat what I'm looking for, and is there such a thing for the GT-S? I found a Magnaflow, but is it really higher flow than stock?
Additionally, I live in Denver, so the car has to pass emissions and a visual cat inspection. I can't just install a pipe. I'm guessing this car might just pass emissions with just a pipe, but they visually verify the cat is in place.

I will buy Invidia, because graddy sound as stock (internet video).
Here on newcelica is some information about Invidia :

Invidia high performance cat back exhaust system, it's engineered to produce strong Mid to Top-End power for highly responsive feel.

Is it cat back or not ?:shrugs:

Catback for other cars, but only axleback for the Celica. And the exhaust in the picture's not the application for the Celica, either. Our Invidia application has a pretty big U-bend and is one piece.
