IIHS Crashworthiness Rating: Marginal
Crashworthiness refers to how well a vehicle protects its occupants in acrash. Each vehicle's crashworthiness evaluation is based on performancein a 40 mph frontal offset crash test. Ratings depend on how well thestructure/safety cage protects the occupant compartment, the risk ofinjury measured for an average-size male, and how well the restraintsystem controls occupant movement. Rankings of vehicles with similaroverall crash test ratings are based on how well head restraints andbumpers are designed to prevent neck injuries in rear-end crashes andproperty damage in low-speed crashes.
