I'm looking for a performance replacement set of gears for the 6-speed transmission. Anyone heard of any? Anyone want to try and make some?

I was thinking that 1st could be lowered for quicker launches, then second would have to be lower as well so the 1-2 shift would easily land you into lift (second might end up being as low as 1st is now, so for normal driving you

What am I searching for. I tried searching before posting this thread, and didn't find anything. I guess I'll go take a second look.

Edit:
Ok, I the C-one thread, but it's not what I'm wanting, or looking for.

Maybe I should look more at the Kaaz kit. Anyone have more info on that one?

Here's my post to the C-one Thread:

For Ratio /2ZZ-GE

1st. 2nd. 3rd. 4th. 5th. 6th.

Normal 3.166 2.05 1.481 1.166 0.916 0.725
C-ONE 2.929 2.176 1.70 1.364 1.167 0.916 [/B]
I don't think this would work well at all for Drag or street. It's more of an autocross setup.
What I'd like to see is something more like:

I talked to Kaaz alittle while back and it's just as expensive, around the 2k price range and just the gears. They are just like the C-One gears if I remember correctly. I'll get these one day. But for now, my money is going into FI.

i posted about this a while ago but nobody seemed to give a crap.

I know where you can order them in houston and can get ahold of a set.
I can get ahold of C-one stuff, but its VERY VERY hard to get...takes a long time but its VERY worth it...extremely high quality stuff.

the gears arent just good for autocross.

youll stay in lift on every shift. you guys who powershift THINK youre staying in lift, but imaginei f you shifted the same way WITH the gears.
the problem is even if you land in lift, you are still almost out of your powerband and not landing close enough tot he peak power from 1-2 hence why you always lose ground there.

my celica races always consisted of a win in 3rd...but if we only did up to 2nd gear id always lose.

these gears would fix that and probably shave about 1/2 a second off.

put the ratios into grand turismo or something to get an idea of what its like :)

I never said it wouldn't be an improvement, but it's not ideal for what you'd want for a drag racing car. If the C-one would give you a 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile, then the rations I mentioned should give you a hole extra second of the 1/4, and not ruin your highway gas mileage. The C-one set puts 1st at a higher ration then stock, which means it'll be even harder to get a good launch from a dead stop, which could almost compleatly counter act the advantages you get from the 1-2 shift.

Either way the C-one just isn't want I'm looking for, and costs more then what I want to spend on them anyway. There's got to be other options out there. Maybe a custom gearing place that can make them to order or something like that.

If you find something/someone that will make custom gear sets, let me know. I'd be down for a set that won't require me to take out a loan. And, maybe we can get a couple sets made if enuff ppl show interest.

I just did a search on the internet for companies, and sent e-mails to the one's that seemed somewhat relavant. I also sent one to Quaife, but they told me they weren't planning anything for the celica. Maybe if they got flooded with e-mails about it, they'd reconcider. There web-page is here: http://quaifeamerica.com/

I've got the c-one close gear set + trd lsd, and they work pretty fine with me, on and off road..... super for 1/4 mile drag races.

My ride is an corolla tsport 2zzge engine and a zze123 chasis, and shares pretty much of the celica gts.

saludos
