I don't know very much about cars first of all, but I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a 2000 celica gt and whenever I shift it always seems to "touchy" is this normal? I always feel like I have to shift so slow and careful into other gears. Also, putting it into reserve always seems so hard.

touchy? meaning its grinding when you try to shift normally? you do have a 2000 so its possible your syncros are worn out. you could change the fluid in the transmission, your clutch could also be wearing out.

Yes. I have a '02 transmission. I don't force shifter in anymore, just nudge it in slowly. Gets worst in winter time when the car is just warming up; 3rd and 4th grinds at every shift no matter what you do. Reverse gear won't go in sometimes, I'll have to clutch out and clutch in again to engage.

ways to solve this is:
let car warm up before driving
change transmission oil (about hundred bucks, does make a big difference)
replace transmission with new one
or replace syncros
the first one is obviously the cheapest haha, but the others might need to be happened.
