We arrived in Juneau (capital of Alaska) this morning, and it was bombing rain. The wind was nuts.
My sniffles got the best of me and I spent the better part of this morning sick. Rested the whole day, downed a Claritin, and I feel much better. I managed to get off the ship for a couple hours to roam around Juneau, and had lunch at a italian restruant I ate at last year. The waitress was from Hawaii and guessed right away that I was from the islands too... the trenchcoat, umbrella, and gloves were a dead give away I guess, since the haole ppl were just wearing jackets or windbreakers.
I was freezing my ass off. The wind blew my umbrella inside out.
Anyway, the ship is great. I'm aboard Holland America's "Oosterdam", one of their newest ships in their Vista Class cruisers. This is the biggest they have.
We have a very large suite this year, walk-in closet, double beds, wraparound couch with a foldout double bed, dressing room, and bathroom with whirlpool sauna and seperate shower stall. Double vanity, 27" flat screen tv with DVD, JVC cd stereo system, huge verandah with tables, seats, and lounges. Basically we're loaded. We even have our own private concierge and lounge because we're on the upper class level. They take care of everything I need, from DVDs to borrow, to getting me a new umbrella.
There's your typical ultra-high class double-tiered dining lounge at the end of the ship, a steak house, a buffet restruant upstairs, a movie theatre (finally got to see Troy! damn.), a large casino (this one is larger than the one on the ship I was on last year), a shopping center, a golf simulator (pretty neat, you can play 36 worldwide courses, I have a tee time tomorrow), arcade games (cool, the have Initial_D v.1 here, I set all the records hahahaha), a library, the internet center, a swedish spa, gym, salon, and bars bars bars. Sports bars, lounges, smoking bars, piano bars. Even a night club that spins house, trance, and hip hop. Odd. Got a lot of old ppl here, so i dunno if they rock that way.
Anyway, there's a lot to do here. The first night of cruising from Seattle wasn't too rough, but the winds picked up today so we're at sea on our way to Hubbard Glacier and the boat is definitely rockin'. I don't get sea sick, but I see a lot of ppl looking pretty green. It's pretty funny.
I've been borrowing a lot of DVDs and cruising in the room. Lost $40 at the casino so far, but I'm sure I'll lose more by the end of the cruise.
I can't find the docking station for the mem cards, I think they took it so ppl won't steal it at night, so I'll load up pics later.
