well I stripped a nut on the thermo housing and it pulled the stud back out with it. Wonderful...

at least the new thermo is in, and its one more thing I can rule out if the problem persists once I get it all back together.

yesterday I finished filing away the excess metal in the threads and managed to make my old damaged stud work again. They did not have one at toyota and could only order it and I had to have my car for work today. For any of you that may do this in the future, even though it almost perfectly resembles the ventilation pipe studs on the valve cover, those wont work. They are too short.

The TRD thermostat I am liking so far, it makes my car run a whole notch cooler on the gauge. I have to give it a few days to really judge it properly though.

Is my passenger side hose always supposed to be cooler than the driver's side? I thought it was supposed to warm up after about 15 mins of operation?

Man I'm pretty sure I have the same problem, When I come to a stop the hot air gets cool, well I'm sure its not A/C but it's outside air, and when I have a reason to put the heat on it's cold as balls out there anyways.
I'm not really feelin' like doin anything about it since There is really no such thing as "cold" in Southeast Texas, But Ya dude tell me If you find anything, it is kind of annoying and I'd like to know what kind of fix you found.

so far my car is doing great with the new thermostat. My old one was a cheap autozone 180 degree and the celica never seemed to really put up with it well. It was also stuck open when I removed it, that might have been my problem. So far with this new one it runs better and the engine is actually a bit quieter. I can't really explain why on that though.

The only other thing I had left to rule out was a waterpump, which is due to fail sometime in the range of mileage i'm currently at...so who knows what will happen there. Lucky for me it was the thermostat, but it was still a pain in the ass to change.
