Okay to get the super cool purple/white/blue flicker can I take my halogen housing buy an after market HID kit and switch out the lens in the halogen projector with a late model tsx lens?
Or do I need the OEM HID housing or is that just a cosmetic upgrade?

well for one thing, you have to make sure the lens will fit

and secondly, you will need more than lens to have the flicker effect. you will most likely need projectors along with it. i am 99% sure, so there is still that 1% i could be wrong

If you switch out the lense with a HID TSX/300zx or something else thats the same size and get the HID kit then yes u will get the flicker. or just get oemHID setup and it works the same

from what i read about the len's switch is, all it does is add more color to the cut off.

the color i believe is the flicker he is going for, anyone try this for themsleves? i have a tsx lense we could try this on if anyone has a set of projectors, i would love to see the outcome. Oem halogen projectors arent bad at all, even with an hid kit you still get a pretty good cutoff,

all the tsx lense adds is a different focal point and a bit clearer, even though halogen celica lenses are pretty clear to begin with.

i was told (can be wrong) that HID lenses have small slits as well which add to the flicker

The lense will help focus the beam, however, the amount of width and lentgh of the projected light is determined by the shape of the reflector bowl.

Your best bet is just do a complete retro fit. The arch on the HID capsule wont behind in the optimum position of the bowl.

S2000's have the craziest flicker. However their projectors are slightly too large IIRC

a lot of you guys dont know what your talking about when it comes to hids
you wont get more flicker cause you have that line in the lense....
you get flicker when you have a SHARP cutoff and your vision is right where that cutoff is. thats why clear lenses look best on hiid cars like the s2000. you wont get anything better changing your holegen celica lense out. i have 03+ headlights with tsx lenses and the flicker is crazy on them. much more then an s2000 and the output is just as good because normaly the 03 headlights come with washed out lenses so changing to a clear lense will make a huge difference.
