Lagging throttle response, or surging can be symptoms of a clogged fuel filter.

To change it, you need to pull the rear seats out or drop the fuel tank. Get some Seafoam and run it through your fuel, it works wonders. While you are at it, add it to your oil and change your oil after 100 miles, and add it to your crankcase via vaccum line. Search seafoam to find lots of info about it and writeups.
