anyone know if i can just use the stuff at the auto parts store? weapon says i have to use theirs or void the warranty. i "assume" these filters are pretty much the same, right? they sell the cleaner and oil for like $20 online and i can get it for half that at autozone.

i did search for an answer first!

If it's a cotton gauze filter, K&N's cleaning kit will work. If it's a foam filter, throw it out and get cotton gauze one.

It filters dirt 100x better than foam. It's also reusable, unlike foam.

K&N has alot of sizes and many autoparts carry them.

isn't k&n foam too? my filter is a freakin huge, dense foam thing like aem and all.
Nope, only a few companies make foam, and there's a reason for it. K&N, Injen, and AEM's old filter are made of cotton gauze, and it isn't thick at all. AEM's new filter is synthetic material, and even better than cotton, though not so good in wet weather on Celicas.
