i was going to do this mod, i cut the stuck airbox up and everythin and then went to put it on, and happened to notice it looks the same size as my C/A/I. I have a 2000 gt with the AEM dryflow cai. Im guesing this mod doesnt apply to this intake... :wiggle:

I haven't done the mod yet but I think they're supposed to be the same size, at least from the outside. Get one of those silicone couplers like the yellow one in the pic and bring the MAF holder and pipe right up to each other inside the coupler. Then tighten them down together. That should do the trip.

BB, am I close or totally off on this one?

Also, did y'all paint the inside too?

Great Mod!!! Thanks so much BB. I can really feel the difference and the bogging from 1-3k is gone. It took me a little while to get the exact amount of the CAI cut (3 different cuts) but I finally got it down and installed. Thanks

Does anyone have pictures of this mod with a K&N SRI bc i dont understand how it would work? And my celica is bogging really bad its to the point where my car shuts off sometimes and i have the CEL on all the time. So help would be great thanks

I installed a BOMZ CAI for a 2003 Celica GT. I am amazed at the sound and how crazy the engine sounds close to redline! You can feel the extra HP at low RPM and especially when the VVT-i kicks in! Im loving it... except the CEL. Now, i did notice alof o boggin at 1st but was quickly corrected after checking for vacume leaks.

I still noticed some hesitation and lag... and like others, Ive yet to mesure the difference in tubing size from the OEM to the CAI.... Im not 100% convinced this would resolve the issue.

Wouldn't racing ECU not turn on the CEL?

great mod...did it to a Injen SRI and getting it to fit seems much harder than w/other piping

nevertheless...good stuff

If you have low airflow measurements, it will.

Here's what you need to measure to find out:

Should be at spec idle when measuring. If the voltage @ spec idle is below 1.1V, then the airflow measurement is off & you need to mod.

A PFC doesn't utilize the CEL. So, yes you're correct.

AMAZING MOD!! Great job BB!! No wonder they call it the BBMod. So far so good and it only took about 2 hours to make, install, and test! No more sluggish and no more check engine light. So far so good!!
**How did you end up mounting the CAI when you cut the mount off instead of letting it hang there?? thanks a lot!

The CEL is back on after 5 days... maybe something came loose. The work and configuring continues...

blue bomber, i don't see the bracket that is supposedly bolted to the vibra-mount. did you cut it off? can the clamps hold the whole cai? i don't want my cai to fall off!

Hey guys well i will have to say i have a celica VVTLI import i had a K&N SRI and the engine light was on since then i fitted a AEM CAI with a full custom system with de-cat and lan simulater and a apexi SAFC and few other little bits and bobs but since all this the lights on the dash are all off was all set up at weston performance and is now running 232.4bhp before all these things was 195.4 at wheels but then again this was a import but as i say the light is off but at the cost of almost 3000 pound
now i want to SC it witch means loosing the AEM CAI *LOL*

Resetting Computer

Before buying my Celica I was active on the Saturnalia forums. This question came up often. When you install a CAI on a Saturn you can simply disconnect your battery for a few minutes. When you reconnect it there is a resetting of the computer which adjusts for the new air flow. Does this work with Toyotas? This is how we avoided the CEL coming on.

Hey i just Installed a SRI that i bought off ebay it does seem to work great but i am getting the CEL to come on so when i heard about this site i came here and it seems that there is a solution... but i cant see the installation guide on how to do this on this page... there is no link or anything. can anyone help me get this guide?

Why did you delete the install guide BB? I was just getting ready to do this - will you be reposting it?

Problem solved:
