Hey guys,

I'm installing a alpine head unit into my car, but I want to utilize the stock amp and maintain the same sound as stock. I've talked to a bunch of shops and I'm getting to responses to my question. One shop said that I would need to install a interface that will allow me keep the stock sound. Another shop said I didn't need to buy the interface and that you could wire the new deck up to the amp. So basically I don't know what to do, and I just wanted some input from those who would know what to do. The key for me is to keep the sound of the stock system with the use of an aftermarket deck. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

if you want to keep the sound of stock, why by a new hu. i think you are talking about the amp for the premium radio. there is a wire diagram on the site in the install section. take a look there

I bought a new HU for the mp3 capabilities. There is a wiring harness out made by scoche which you'll need for the install. Study the diagrams and do it yourself. THat's what i did

if you use the wiring harness made by scosche that uses the factory amp you will get engine noise. i am getting so annoy'd of that engine noise im going to rewire everything and bypass the stock amp sometime this month when im free

What is the power output of your new deck. Odds are if you bypass the premium amp you will get better sound quality, and possibly more power anyway. I replaced my HU w/ an alpine 2 years ago, and bypassed the stock amp. I have no complaints on sound. Follow the diagrams in the install section and just bypass the stock amp. Its just an easier way to do this.

I did bypass the amp, and it sounds like ass. So I'm going to have to install an interface to get the sound that I want.

Hey my Boyfriend is a Car Audio and Electronics Tech He said to make sure you have all the speakers in phase as he has done several amp bypasses with aftermarket head units and they sounded great

Did you bypass the amp and wire all 6 sets of leads into the new 4 channels. The front speakers have four pairs of leads to them. If you only wire the mids/tweeters, it will sound terrible. The front Mid/tweet lead and Front woofer lead need to be wired in either series of parrallel to your front channel on the new deck. There is some debate as to which is better. Mine are done in Series and work just fine.
