Installation costs?

so i'm deciding to get kyb agx struts with tein s tech springs. I went to my local mechanic who i always go to for most of my car needs, and i asked him how much it would cost for them to install new struts and springs. They said that they estimate that its a 6 hour job. 3 hours in the front and 3 in the back will cost me 500 bucks. I'm like wtf. I know this price is way off. How much did you guys get your shocks/struts installed for?

thats rape!
yeh 5 bills seems like way too much. i was charged $150 for shock/spring installation for my 91 mr2 which took about 3 hours. i dont know if it takes longer or the process is harder on a celica but still, $500 seems like way too much! peace out, Brian
what are you paying /hour. A 6 hour job at $60 dollars per hour is still only 360 dollars.
its a 2 and a 1/2 hr job if you do it yourself.. and it wont cost anything
it will take longer than 2.5 hours if its your first time. But if you want to learn something its good experience and you can use the money you would have given somebody else and buy your own tools.

how could you not use a spring compressor?:AF:
I didn't use a spring compresser, but its a good thing to have. You don't need a lift, use your jack, one at a time. First time took me 3hrs total.
anyone know how much it would be to get a direct bolt on lambo door kit installed? should i maybe open my own thread?
Open a new thread in the "appearance mods" section. ( i have no idea what it would cost)
around here they are quoting me $400. its insane. i cant find a shop for cheaper
how are you guys able to do it without compressing the springs??
Do it yourself with your jack if you have no jackstands - just do one wheel at a time. It only a matter of taking a few bolts out and taking the old shock/spring out and putting the new ones in. Remember that you should get an alignment after replacing suspension pieces. You should be able to find a tutorial on this site about installing tein coilovers. Same deal. You just need to know how to use the spring compressor (very easy, they should be able to tell you at the store you borrow it from).
humm..... i would like to install them myself if its not too hard. I'll take a look in to it. Thanks for all the advice guys.
