This is weird. Stay tuned. There will be much made about how "anti-Semitic" Gibson is - as well as other controversies surrounding Mel and the movie - in the very near future.

Yes the Jewish community were mostly responsable for Christs death.

No, this has no bearing on the Jewish community today.

Jews need to accept responsability and Christians have to get over it. It's been 2000-years, who cares?

Two things:
  • "The Jews" were not responsible, per se, but their leadership, the Sanhedrin and Pharaisees, WERE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE - with the complicity of Rome. Those are the facts of the matter. However, the current leadership of Judaism is the modern-day rabbi who interprets older ha-nazi - great teachers of the Babylonian Talmud. The Talmud, itself, is a compilation of interpretations of other great rabbis - the Pharaisees. See why "they" [the rabbis] are so concerned?
  • One thing that Vatican II did, amongst other things, is to try to "absolve" 'the Jews' [this is the way I was taught, but see above] from responsibility for Esu Jmmanuel's crucifixion.

I propose in that case the Jews no longer present themselves as the chosen people. Deal?

The Pharisees and Sanhedrin spurred the people to demand the release of a murderer, Barabbas (who was arrested for killing during a Jewish uprising).

That does not absolve the Jewish people from what they did (they said it themselves... "Let his blood be on us and our children"). If they followed blindly what the Pharisees told them to, then they are guilty of foolish complacency. Were the German people spared from responsibility for the Holocaust in WWII? Similarly, the Jewish people should be held accountable for the murder of Jesus Christ.

However, I do agree that Christians should get over (not forget, mind you) what the Jews did, and concentrate more on spreading the Gospel to the unsaved Jews, rather than playing the blame game.

However, if there's one thing the Jews were (and still are) guilty of, it's the denial of Jesus Christ. Even today, many Jews stubbornly refuse to accept Jesus (a fellow Jew), and continue to resist against attempts to bring them to Christ (often by other Jews who converted to Christianity).
