This is a design fault and Toyota should fix regardless of being in or of of warintee. They won't publically admit to this as they would have to change or fix ALOT of cars with the VVTLI engine in. Personally I think they should redevelope the "LIFT" change over mechanism use much larger bolts as even the new generation of "Lift" cam change bolts will wear probably shear and cause problems. Perhaps this is somthing WatchDog should be informed about as this will effect alot of people and cars. Lotus owners as well.
If you are worried about this happening to your Car please contact Watchdog, the more support we show perhaps Toyota may be swayed into covering out of warintee for VVTLI owners.
This will also effect Lotus owner and other Toyota cars using the VVTLI engine
