my enginehas been making a ticking noise for a while now and i had a mechanic that i work with take a look, he sais that it was prolly the lifters and to take it to the toyota dealer. anyone had this problem b4?

A mechanic told you that? ha! the celicas don't have lifters. Its a little tricky setting the valve clearence. it takes a special tool from toyota and you need the repair manual, theres a chart telling what size shims to use according to what the clearance is now and what size shim is on the valve.

Actually it can be done without any special tools besides some feeler gauges and a micrometer
