Per the factory service manual, you are supposed to pull the hub to replace the ball joint.

This is, of course, if you want to reuse it. I have to replace my ball joint as it failed inspection, so I'm thinking I could just pickle fork it off, and then put a brand new one on without having to pull the hub...?

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

I can't think of a reason to remove the hub, except to save the bearings of the stress of beating things with a pickle fork.
