Overrated yes, but the ZO6 better whip it, being a newer performance platform. Back in 1993 the Supra was on top of its game, that probably set the stage for al the hype surrounding the Supra and the bomb-proof 2JZ-GTE block. That 320 horsepower was underrated of course according to some reports.
$42,000 was pretty high back then of course.

Yea the amount of hype around that car is ridiculous. So many ricers when they see a Supra assume the ****ing thing does 10's...Like it's a prerequisite. It's amazing because it has more hype and goes for more money than a lot of FASTER and NEWER cars. 04-03 Terminator walks this thing like it's the Cobra's ****ing job (stock and mod for mod) and is NOTORIOUS for a FAR BETTER whole shot than the Supra. But somehow this car still has as much hype as it does.
what's the difference between a 500 whp and a 700 whp Supra?
Nothing - they both run 11s.

On street tires yes, likely 12's. There is one guy here who ran a best of 10.76 in his with DR. I think he's putting down something in the order of 510 whp and his Supra is streetdriven. He races in the StreetLegal competition, which is exactly what the names says: a league for streetdriven, DMV legal cars.
The Z looks a little alien but its profile/shape are still relevant
The Supra does still look modern.

at least the one good thing to come out of this is that we can now really settle the question of why publication mags are giving way to online info blogs. the writing style in this car and driver is much better than anything i've read in it recently
Err...I'd take a lip kit over a bland stock body any day...as long as I don't have snow shovels in front...
