YEah.. I replace all the rod bearings (only 34 was spun though) and now the knocking is gone.. but now its ticking pretty loud, and throwing a CEL.. got it scanned at advanced it read a p0300 and a p0302 which it said were misfires on those cylinders.. Is it just a bent valve on those to cylinders? is it possible they could've messed up head or anything if they were bent?

EDIT: also, it seems to clear up after it gerts above 1k rpm.

And unrelated: should I be able to hit lift with a broken intake bolt? I only borught it up to 6k once to see if I could and it still did..

imo, it sounds like you've bent a few valves from the mishift and pushing it will only make it worse. It only seems to get better after your > 1k rpms, it's still there most likely!

Agree, pretty sure you have bent valves. I think the P0300 is the general cilinder misfire code, and the P0302 refers to cilinder 2. You probably bent the valves on that one.

Yeah thats what I figured.. and I havebn't been pushing the car.. I only went in lift for a second to see if it still worked.. after that I just coasted basically..

How 'fun' is it to replace the valves?

hahahahhahaah, oh my god. Thats what i had to do, replace my #4 cylinder valve cuz it was bent. It took a month with solid work on everyweekend to get that thing running again. I mean u have to remove crossmember, remove alternator, intake manifold, all exhaust, battery, motormounts, raise motor, take off timing chain cover, belt tensionor, so much crap lol it goes on and on to eventually get the head off the engine. lol yeah i hate that motor with a passion now.

If you have the right equipment, it's pretty "fun". Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a machine shop. There, they will check for leakage in the head, warp, valve seats...everything. But then you have to set your own valve lash which is a pain in the ass and lots of dough.

Either way...DEFINITELY use my guide. I've taken the head off with AND without taking off the timing chain cover. Without taking the t-chain cover off, you're saving yourself about 6-8 hours of work. Just make sure you purchase a telescoping magnet.
