This barley started happening a few weeks ago. I got a 01' 6 speed Gt-s. I notice that when i am at a complete stop and hit the gas to go it revs up high but slowly starts to move. Also when im driving and hit the gas it revs up high then drops and starts to accelerate. Can some one help me out?

Does it rev high when the clutch is engaged or disengaged?

My wild guess is your clutch is slipping :shrugs:

My sarcastic answer is "It's a Celica. What do you expect?"
My actual answer is x2 for the slipping clutch

Wow you must push your car hard then.

When I still had my old clutch which was slipping also, it never slipped from stop. It slipped only when I had floored the throttle...

Definitely the clutch. I will pray for you tonight that you or someone you know can replace/upgrade the clutch. Labor cost is horrible.

Yeah, my brother killed mine in a previous car (in a matter of 15 minutes!) and it cost $730 to get it replaced (stock clutch). I really have to learn how to do it myself, or rather, get the courage to do it myself.

Slipping clutch. Replace it and don't drive your car so hard.

If I were you I would get an ACT street clutch..I've had it since 35k and my car is at ~95 now and I drive it pretty hard. Its got a heavier pedal feel but it's worth it because you will be more confident about when the clutch is engaging.
