My New Motor *Updated With Pics!*

So, as many of you may know, my 1zz has been burning a lot of oil for the past half a year. Because of this, I have decided to replace it. This is my daily driver, and my only car... because of this the stock motor has racked up about 107k miles. Sooo... it's time for a change. In the intrest of keep this simple, I have decided to stick with the 1zz, so feel free to keep all the "should have gone with a 2zz" comments to yourself; it ain't gonna happen. :gap:

So, I got myself a used '03 1zz from a nc.org member. It has 60k on, 80% of the miles on the car were highway, and the motor had regular oil changes with mobile 1, all in all I'm pretty confident in this motors reliability. The work will be done this friday at East Coast Speed Factory, a shop with a successfull history of 1zz work.

All installed:

ECSF installed a "TRD" (not really TRD) Oil Catch Canister, slightly used MAFS, slightly used K&N Filter, Oil Pressure Sensor Remote locate line and fittings, HotShot Header, Toyota Racing Development Carbon Fiber Engine Cover, Denso Iridium Spark Plugs, Gripforce Stage 1 Clutch Kit, and MWRs Lightweight Chromoly Flywheel, Toga Performance High-Volume Oil Pump, AEM Lightweight Alternator Pulley, Catco High Flow Catalytic Converter, and a slightly used pre-cat o2 sensor.

Needless to say: I can't wait.

I'll do my best to document the process, and you can expect a good amount of pics to be posted this weekend.

Lastly, I really want to thank the many nc.org members who helped me with this project, both with questions answered and advice given.... thanks again for those who helped me the most: Boosted2.0, Blue Bomber, Lormax, Dave Draper, fusi0n, Matt @ MWR and of course Steve @ East Coast Speed.

Okay!

I finally found the time to upload these pics. I have more that I'll be dumping into my imagestation account tomorrow. For now, these were all I could fit on my nc.org account.

Here's Steve and Rob of ECSF getting the battery and fuse boxes out bright and early @ 7:30am.

Mike, Steve and Rob huddle around the engine finding secure places to mount chains to pull the motor:

And, without too much trouble.... out comes the old motor:

Right before lunch, old engine out (right) new engine (left) ready to be prepped.

Here we go, new engine all ready to be installed.... MWR flywheel, gripforce clutch and toga oil pump are all installed, and the hotshot header is being bolted up:

Just about ready to drop it in:

There we go.... nice fit. Looks like we're getting th motor mounts lined up here:

And there you go, all installed and cleaned up.

You might want to note that this engine is equipped with the first ever: Shortest Short Ram Intake Evar!!! (SSRIE) Just the filter, MAFS housing and from there right into the throttle! Yeah, it's kindof odd, but thusfar it has performed fairly well. Unfortunatly we had to do it this way as my 4 year old AEM intake pipe had a hole rubbed in it from the tranny. :( This will most certianly do 'till I get myself a TPR intake.

I have some more pics that I'll be dumping onto my imagestation account tomorrow... I'll post the link once I do.

Here's the link for the rest of the pics, there's quite a few on there that I couldn't fit on my account here.... including oil catch canister placement, remote oil pressure sensor and more.
