I know this thread probably belongs in the Audio forum, but figured I'll get more responses here, so please don't move.....

so here's my situation.....
I bought a pioneer deh p7400 head unit.....but noticed that the harness doesn't match up with the stock harness, but the GT's are fine....so, I was told that I had to "REWIRE"....
could anyone give me some help on how to do this? I really don't want to spend an add'l $100-200 for the rewire......
thanx in advance...

ask cbgt4me from the dcm forum he should be able to help and is pretty well local depending where you live
If you KNEW it should be in the audio forum, then why did you NOT put it there in the first place?

There are many members over there who are extremely knowledgeable on this subject.
You shouldn't have to rewire anything. What you should go get is a wiring harness. The harness will plug into the stock Celica plug, then you crimp the two harnesses together. Much easier, and cheaper that way.

whats up Curt....
I'm assuming you have a GT-S too...
I got the harness from sound domain, and it doesn't fit the stock harness from the celica....and also the harnesses from circuit city and best buy are the same ones from sound domain...I also went to the mobile installation place in circuit city and best buy, and they both told me I need to do a "REWIRE"....
so I guess if you could find me a website that sells the harness that I'm looking for, I'd appreciate it....
THANX
What year is your GT-S? I have a 2003 GT-S and my friends and I tried to install my mp3 player we realize that we had to butcher the harness and rewire it ourselves. I'm actually still having some problems with it, such as weezing sounds everytime I step on the throttle. I was told it's from the antenna, connection might not be good...any ideas?
mine's a 2001
I have no idea what's wrong with yours...sorry..
so, you just cut the white adapter from the stock harness and connected it?
01blkgts, I guess you can go the long way. In the Installs section of this site, under Stereo, there are the wiring codes for the GT-S radio. Your best bet now is to cut the white harness off, but try to leave some left on it. Just in case you want to put the harness back on, leave some slack. Using the wiring codes on this site, and the wiring codes in your radio install guide, just match everything up. It's not that hard, it just takes some more time.

There is suppose to be a wiring harness for your 01 GT-S, but I don't know where to get it. I didn't use a harness because I only used the ignition and illumination wires from the stock harness.

okay, thanks curt,
but i just ordered the scosche TAO3 harness, so hopefully it'll hook up right.....but on the sound domain website...it says this
"Utilizes the aftermarket head unit's 4-channel preamp (RCA) outputs. Use when replacing the factory head unit, but keeping the factory speakers".
so what happens if I change out the stock speakers?

thanx
