Needles: Use non acetone nail polish remover to take off orange, paint white

8 and 9: Get a LED swap, or if you want to keep numbers orange, but 8 and 9 red, just get 1 or 2 SMD/SMT LED's. Dooly sells them on his store www.ledmod.com

yeah, take nail polish remover and dab it on some toilet paper...then rub the back side of the needle with the nail remover...after a couple of minutes the orange should come off...go get some (i think its called "Testors Paint) you get at wal-mart... and just paint either 1 or two coats on the back of the needle...

Oh make sure you don't break the needle

I used acetone. Stupid me. :faint:

I got the color out, along with portions of the needle. Basically the acetone "burned" the needle and made thousands of tiny little scratches.

I love how the color changes as you approach redline ... I have blue LEDs, so it starts blue, then purple, then red.

Gauge and needle shares the same light source... so if you want like white needle amber gauge... then you'll need some custom job...

But if you just use white LED, you stock gauge will be orange but little faded orange color but will light up the needle white...
You'll need to remove the stock paint on the needle.... paint it with white pair(Testor paint) or white-out....

It's won't be dim... it will be light orange color......
If you just do white LED conversion for the white needle it won't be all that bright..
To make it really bright, you'll need to custom install two white LED at the base of the needle.... that will make it really bright...

So if one were to leave the stock gauge face (orange) but put in red LEDs, would that creat a pink colour? Or just an ugly red/orange mess? Anyone tried before?

So its decided that stripping the paint of the needle without changing the led's is useless?

no..during the day you needle will be what color you paint it..at night it will light up whatever color the led is.

If you want to stick with stock gauge face, you are only left with red LED....
White, blue, green colors you'll need new gauge face...
