2013 Nissan Altima to Use New Supercharged 2.5-liter Hybrid
The new generation of Nissan’s hybrid drive system uses a compact lithium-ion battery pack and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that comes with a twin-screw supercharger.
Nissan engineers told autoblog that the new mill has an almost identical torque curve with the company’s well-known 3.5-liter V6 unit and that it should offer the same output (around 260 hp and 250 lb-ft), while increasing fuel efficiency by up to 10 percent when using the carmaker’s new continuously-variable transmission.
Nissan announced that the 2.5-liter supercharged mill will make its US debut in a new model that will arrive next year and this should be the next generation of the Altima. The powertrain will eventually make its way into multiple models, including Infiniti ones.
