I have a 2001 Celica GT-S 6-speed manual. the lift went out completely and the rev limiter kicks in @7000rpm, but the lift bolts are fine. Any idea what may be causing the problem?

Clogged Lift OCV filter maybe. Any CEL? You didn't try hitting lift on a cold engine by any chance?

Ill look into the OCV filter.

A bit of background: ive had the car since 05. about 3 years ago speedometer went out, around the same time i realized the lift wasnt working. It made sence to me that if the computer didnt know how fast the car was going it might set the engine to safety mode. A friend blew my engine. i had the engine rebuilt. just got it back. speedometer works now but lift still doesn't.

Agreed, I tried that when I first bought my car...7k RPMs was where it stopped, thought my car was broke lol.

it's seems a ocv valve not working, look if the oil control valve switch it's connected
