What does it look like under the hood?
.

What do you mean 'what do I find aesthetic?' ...the look of them aka their aesthetics.

You've contradicted yourself. You need to look up the word aesthetics.

Just what about being functional or non-functional has anything to do with aesthetics?

..even looking functional or non functional.

what if he wants it to look non-functional?.. see what I'm saying?

Aesthetics is based solely on opinion.

As a designer working professionally I can assure you that is a fact.

I'm not surprised that people don't like it..

People are generally followers, they don't like what they don't understand. His motivations are different than yours.

If you read more carefully you'd have noticed that I said,

'I understand if it's not your cup of tea'

What I don't understand is all the negativity.. like why people are so mad..

Let me put it in perspective ; I don't like lifted trucks at all but when I see one that I think looks

exceptionally dumb (which happens often) you know what I do?.. nothing.. I really just don't waste my time commenting.

Some of the comments on Stance Nation's post of this celica make me sick.

People are legit emotionally distraught and yes, I think its surprising and funny really.

I'm sure Kawashima San would agree.

If its an opinion you have, back it up with some intelligent reasoning..

not just calling it 'Fvcking garbage' or an 'awful build'

Why is it awful?.. Maybe your minds are all just so narrow that you're

totally non empathetic to those who have a different opinion than you.. sounds like idiocy to me.

Seriously who wrote the book that says you must build a celica this way or else its ugly..

please.. show me where this is written.

If you can find me that book I'll read it..

Then I'll get you a book..

an art history text book ; so you can learn a little something about artistic exploration and

abstraction.. or maybe about art on a found canvas which is exactly what this build is.

I'd even go so far as to call it satirical art.

No hard feelings though, I just love a good debate.
I thought I was reading a fucking poem there for a second...

Why are all of your lines of text broken up into single lines with spaces between each?

And yes, since everyone is entitled to their opinion, why are you surprised that a lot of people don't like this awful build? They are also allowed to express their views.

Don't be pedantic, I know exactly what aesthetics are.

You are missing the core of my question: explain why you find this setup pleasing to the point where you absolutely must tell opposing opinions to shut it.

My characterization of this setup as non-functional was obviously a tongue-in-cheek satirical counterpoint to your use of the word aesthetic, but you obviously missed that too.

That's only how YOU would apparently act.
I still fail to see why you think others can't act differently when expressing their views on the subject.

Now you're contradicting yourself. So others can only have a different opinion than you if they write a full essay to explain their reasoning? Why can't you accept a simple "I hate it. It's awful" as an opposing opinion.
Let me remind you that you still haven't explained WHY you like this travesty of a setup.

How ironic. A debate is seeing every side of the issue. It would hardly be a "debate" if those who hate this build can't say so publicly, now would it?
x MOTHER FACKING 2
Are the back wheels even on the ground?
Is it bagged? It must be.

I got what you meant dude, The non-functionality of the set up is just so blatantly evident.. to me it just shows his motivation is different. Uniqueness is what he's going for, and humor, That's really why I like it.

I never said they can't, just that I think it makes them sound shallow.

Sorry If my saying so sounds combative, not my intent

No one needs to write anything, I totally understand why it's disliked. I just appreciate it as art. Art evokes an emotional response.. I'd say this car totally qualifies. There's a reason why he did it to a celica, everyone already hates celicas. I bet he saw how much hate his last build got and just couldn't resist.. He's literally trolling the entire car scene, I think that's awesome.

Ya know, you're actually correct. It's all opinion. I guess I just jump to defend this guy out of respect for him. I can see how you find
that ironic.

^I love that pic.

:shrugs: I didn't like it before, but I do now. It's so over the top and ridiculous, and it's obviously meant to be. This Celica illicits so many responses varying from appreciation, awe, shock and disgust. Hell, it's one way to make this old car still relevant.

What did your Celica look like again?

And...

Someone answer my fucking question.
God dammit.
What did your Celica look like again?
It was a carbon blue Celica.

I think his last one was Greddy supercharged..

I wouldn't be surprised if this one was stock he probably doesnt drive over 40

the exhaust looks like shyt though, He should've done one of those crazy
custom vip style valances with integrated pipes
just noticed the hood scoop delete. Kind digging that features as well

Fixed that for you
I can relate with this guy. It's what the owner likes and nobody else matters. Believe me, I hate the whole stanced scene but if someone builds a car with out half assing it I can appreciate that. Just like the rally pod I made for the car. Some people love it and some be hating. It's something different.

i'd pay some good money for that hood
looks much cleaner

i feel the celica looks tacky with the hood scoop, especially since it's just bolted on :shrugs:
Bolted on? How else are they supposed to attach it....with 3M tape?
Well, like how the newer impreza's have the scoop part of the hood?

Does that make sense? as in like how it's part of the hood, and not merely bolted on, it's not a major thing, but I feel it makes it look a bit more well made

:shrugs:
Yea, we don't have any body lines or anything that lead into the scoop. Just a big flat featureless hood with BAM a scoop in the middle. I see what you mean.
:shrugs: i see your point i just think it'd look better molded into the hood
So run a bead of body filler around it and paint the hood, there it's molded to the hood.
