I just found out that you can fly to the OBX from Dulles airport. $188/person (8 max) on a charter plane. Or, fly independence air to Norfolk for $80 round trip and then rent a car for $170/week or take a shuttle plane to OBX for $125 each way.

If I was to drive by myself, I can guarantee you that I will make it to OBX in 3 hrs flat, but the idea of spending $230 for flight/car for a week is not that bad, considering I would be saving about 1 hr travel time. :gap:

Chris and I proved this possible last year when we made the entire trek in the POURING DOWN RAIN from my house in less than 4 hours. Average speed was over 87mph. we also stopped twice for cigarettes and a "rest stop".
