Supreme Court strikes down Canada's prostitution laws
Parliament has 1 year to bring in new law as Criminal Code provisions remain in place

The Supreme Court of Canada has struck down the country's anti-prostitution laws in a unanimous decision, and given Parliament one year to come up with new legislation — should it choose to do so.

'It is not a crime in Canada to sell sex for money.'
- Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin, Supreme Court of Canada
In striking down laws prohibiting brothels, living on the avails of prostitution and communicating in public with clients, the top court ruled Friday that the laws were over-broad and "grossly disproportionate."

"Parliament has the power to regulate against nuisances, but not at the cost of the health, safety and lives of prostitutes," wrote Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin in the 9-0 decision that noted "it is not a crime in Canada to sell sex for money."
Prostitution is already legal in Canada, however going to a brothel for sex, soliciting in public or using prostitution as a main means of fiances is still illegal.
As of now, escorts have to use risky methods in order to avoid these criminal charges. This puts escorts at added risk and puts them in danger.
With a legalized and regulated system they would have extra safety and security.
That is if this ruling goes unchallenged by Parliament. They have a year to respond with a rebuttal legislation.

Cliffnotes:

In a year you can come up here, visit a massage parlour and get a completely legal, hassle free happy ending.

Wild guess off the top of my head; by sleeping with other Canadians. Which isn't that bad.
Good to see another idiotic vice law die.
Right? About time the government matures and realizes this shit will happen one way or another.
At least this way women aren't getting raped and beaten by their shady customers or pimps.
Come fix our justice system next please.
We'll send Rob Ford.

No deal. You must kill both.
Sike. We're not killing anyone.
They're a few of the many Canadian sleeper agents we have implemented into US society.
Different agents gain access to different areas of America's economy and pop culture.

When the time is right. We will activate said agents and watch as they decimate and rip apart your nation from within.

Your fate is sealed.
It's inevitable.
