Both are nearly the same price. Both are RWD. Both have a reputation for good handling.

Which Toyota would you choose?

^The second gen X-Runner?

Any specs on the new one? I keep looking at this black 1st gen at a local Toyota dealership that has low mileage, however, they want a lot for it. Why bother with that, if I could get a new one for a few grand more with better technology and power?

FR-S for pure enthusiasts.

Not a big fan of the xrunner. Sure its nice, fast, handles, and easy power, but I believe a truck should be used a as a truck. Which is why we are getting a '12 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Off-Road in Sept :gap:

I only see one Toyota there
Pretty much. Still I'd suggest the FRS unless you need to carry a lot of chit, have excess cash to pay for crappy mph and love to drag. :)

Its handling target was the 350Z. And tests have shown it's extremely close.
They aren't hyped for nothing.

Practicality of a truck, yet the handling of a car.

I've always said if I had the need (and money) for a second car, it'd be an X-Runner. I hate giving up on performance no matter what I drive (I will never own a Prius :gap: ), so the X-Runner is the perfect compromise. Throw some better tires on, and you can keep up with most sports cars out there in the turns. Toss an SC on, and

Is this a fantasy?

The X-Runner can carve and drag.

.

It's the closest thing Toyota has to a NA Supra.
