couple of basic questions,

-do double din decks fit in the factory opening (celica gt-s 2000)?

-how do i know if I have a premium sound system, I don't think I do cause I don't see the jbl label anywhere?

-if i don't have the premium sound system can I put a new deck in without rewiring and all that stuff, or is there not a harnase available for any of the different factory decks?

-thanks ahead of time

My 2001 GTS has the premium sound system and there are no JBL labels anywhere. I think they only started labeling the speaker covers 2003 and up. I am 99% certain that all GTS models received the premium sound system. It was never an option on the GTS if I remember correctly.

And yes, double din decks fit the factory opening.

1) The "Premium" sound system has 8-speakers (not that you can see all of them cuz some are coaxial)

2) The "Premium" head unit only has one connector from the Toyota wiring harness that has 20-pins in it (instead of two smaller connectors that have 10-pins & 6-pins).

3) It also has a factory amp mounted just above & behind the passenger side kick panel.

The JBL systems started in '03, but basically all "Premium" systems have 8-speakers and a factory amp, while the stock "Deluxe" system has only 6-speakers and no amp.

A GT could optionally have a "Premium" system if ordered with the Upgrade Package which included: power windows, door locks, and cruise control.

(I dunno about other countries though)
