Removing drive shafts? Tranny?

I'm almost done dropping my tranny using the repair manual's directions, I can't seem to remove the drive shafts easily. Whats the best way to approach this? Do I really need any of the SST's?

you can just lose the bolts that go to the strut(2 big aluminum looking ones) and it will fall out and to the side and you can leave it like that and pull it out from the trans, just make sure you take the caliper of the disk, i've done it like that like 5 times
already, an dif you have 2 big screwdivers, or a fork like for removing ball joints that will work two
