Just bought a used !988 Celica GT Convertible (second childhood purchase).

I would like to replace the seats. Would appreciate any information on car seats (brand, model, year) that would work in this celica...

Just git a set of 7th gen and make em work. Should be able to modify the 88 rails to work.

Thanks for the suggestions. Working on the seats has been an adventure. I pulled the drivers seat and found that the seat mechanism has been welded... it seems so that the seat doesn't fold forward. Apparently a previous owner raced it or prepared it so he could race it.

I have included pictures. Does it look like these welds were to make seats acceptable for racing??? How should I break the welds? Use a die grinder?

Also included pics of damage to seat. The seat is in very good condition otherwise. Suggestions on how to fix the damage/holes? Tried gorilla tape. Didn't like it. I know how to patch vinyl but since the damage is in a very active area I am afraid it wouldn't hold.

I don't have a problem keeping these seats but the damage bugs me.
