What should i gap my copper plugs with a c2 stg 1 running 6 psi??

im getting random misfire codes and my ngk's coppers were preset to .040 How do i make them .030, ive only increased the # before, i have never decreased, do i just ben the top piece down?

im misfiring, what other reasons could i be misfiring other than improper gapping?
