Has anyone used this "Photoblocker" stuff that you can get from www.phantomplate.com ? Supposedly you spray 3-4 coats of this stuff on your license plate and it makes flash pictures unreadable due to glare/reflection from the flash. Also, this is still legal even in states that say you cant put plastic covers over you plates. I wonder if the glare is noticable with just the sunlight on a sunny day though. If it is, then I could see a cop busting you for driving around blinding people with your license plate or something.

Looks legit from all the news stories you can watch about it online. I have seen a lot of sites selling this exact stuff for way more than www.phantomplate.com ($29.99), but I believe www.phantomplate.com is the original/main distributor.

It will probably work...however I think that it would be obvious you altered your license plates...it may get you out of some tickets but it may also annoy cops enough to pull you over for every minor infraction.

Sounds like a reason to be pulled over, and not worth it.

Theres a myth that spraying your plate with several layers of aeresol hairspray will accomplish the same thing. Never tried it, though.

Maybe because it doesnt really hurt to read it? Or does any modification fall under this law?

wish I could tell you. I think the plate looks better in black. I also colored in the "california" at the top of the plate. I think it looks much sharper, but it does look like it is a fake printout that was put over my real plates.

My mom got pulled over for painting her plate right when the environmental tags came out. The cop hadn't heard of them before.

1. I do not personally run red lights.
2. Make no mistake. These cameras are there to earn money, not stop accidents.
3. These cameras are known to issue tickets for even the slightest violation such as:

- it would have been unsafe to slam on your breaks to stop, so you went through and were still in the intersection 0.1 seconds after the light turned red.
- you were yielding to oncoming traffic waiting to turn left and oncoming traffic did not stop until the light turned red.
- I even read of someone getting a camera ticket while being police escorted through intersections in a funeral procession.

Supposedly you can not really see the spray on coating with the naked eye. It is just like a clearcoat. So depending on how true that is, a cop will not pull you over for this becauase they have no way of knowing it is even there.

My car is silver, but there are hints of black all over, so it does kinda match with the car.
