Tein S springs and alignment issues...

702 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  shrumdude
Well, took my car into National Tire and Battery yesterday (I have a 3 year alignment plan) and after installing my Tein S springs, he told me he was unable to adjust the camber in the rear and that I would need to buy camber links from them and pay for install, blah blah blah.

Sounds pretty fishy to me since I took my car there twice to have an alignment with my Sportline springs, and they never said a damn thing. Actually I took it to the location I went to yesterday once, and another location the other time, and both places didn't mention anything about not being able to correctly adjust the camber with the Sportlines, but when I go to a taller spring, they drop that BS on me.

So is he right, or should I just take it to another NTB place and see what they say?

Take it somewhere else.

I have NO tire gap in the back and my car is aligned to within stock specs.

And even if they really can't get it aligned with the stock hardware, you can replace the OEM adjustment bolt with one that has a larger cam lobe on it and allows for more adjustment.

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm thinking that either way you look at it, it's their fault.

When I took it to them with the Sportlines, they never mentioned a camber issue, and now when I take it back to them with even taller springs, they mention it.

They either...

1. Never said anything about camber with the Sportlines because they never adjusted it for whatever reason (stupidity).

2. Are now saying something because they want me to buy an overpriced camber kit from them (which I don't even need), and also pay for labor.

Right?

There were no problems aligning my car with S-Techs.

Bingo. Even if you do need the camber kit for some reason, the $20 Eibach bolts are just as effective as the $200 Hotchkis arms.
