I have a 1zze engine and ecu in my garage from a MR2. There is a GTS locally with a blown engine that I can get pretty cheap. I already have a 2zz GTS, but I would like a second car and with having a 1zz on stand by I'd like to pull the bad 2zz and put in the 1zz.

I've been trying for a few days to find something, but anything I find is very very vague.

Does anyone know what exactly I need parts wise and wiring? Car is manual and so is my 1zz and ecu.

Thank you in advance.

I've seen alot of people do a 1ZZto 2ZZ conversion but this is a first Lol. I would imagine the same steps as doing a 2ZZ swap but in reverse. Are you keeping the C60 6 speed transmission and putting the 1ZZ onto that?

That's exactly what I plan to do. 1zz is here collecting dust. I'm thinking motor mount, fly wheel, throttle body and ecu.

I have ecu listed. What changes wire harness wise?
The 2ZZ has wires the 1ZZ outright doesn't have and vice versa. The same applies to early vs late model years of both engines, so you need to also make sure you're keeping track of that as well. Theoretically it should work fine.

For lift I believe if you are going from 1zz to 2zz but the reverse means I already have those and don't need them for the 1zz I belive.

The ECU is different, as are the transmissions. The intake system isn't exactly the same, knock sensors vary, as well as other sensors. You need to triple check everything involved and ensure it will wire up properly. There are countless threads of electrical nightmares post ZZ swap, even basic swaps with the same engine can be troublesome.

The MR2 ECU won't work with cruise control, might not talk to the body ECU or gauge cluster correctly, and possibly some other issues with using the MR2 ECU in there. I'd suggest sourcing a Celica ECU and Celica 1ZZ engine wire harness.

I'd imagine 1ZZ would work with 2ZZ harness, but some areas would just be left unused. Basing this off MWR using 1ZZ harness for 2ZZ Swap with small additions through splicing.

ECU is clearly different.

The stock airbox is exactly the same as far as I'm concerned, but the intake hose is different between the two engines.

C56/C60 are interchangeable between the two motors.
