Oh well. Aren't the specs of the new Nissan GT-R higher than these specs for the Toyota LF-A version? Which is supposed to rival the GT-R, the Lexus LF-A or the Toyota version of the LF-A?

That article is nothing more than speculation, take it for what it's worth.

the old supras looked so much cleaner.... and I'm not a big fan of auto's.... does anyone know if it'll come in manual as well? (not that I could afford it right now anyways just curious) the hybrid idea is rather interesting, hope it works out.

You're right. I am liking the new LS series with the 8-speed auto. Looks pretty sweet and pretty big!.

its going to be a lexus

toyota has no room in their lineup for anything coming remotely near sporty - no sales volume in them, costs too much to develop.

Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept

Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept
Toyota envisions that punch to be a rear-wheel-drive Hybrid Sports Concept (HSC) that develops 400 horsepower. "It's a new kind of sports car for the 21st century," adds Hunter. "Eco and emotion in a sports car concept with a performance target of 0-60 mph in about 4 seconds and a price tag in the mid-$30,000 range."

...it's enough to get us thinking about the next Toyota Supra, which the automaker feels it needs to compete with Nissan's one-two high-performance punch of the 350Z and the coming Skyline GT-R
What the? Will this actually be built, or is Toyota just toying with our affections?

I want one

Nice to see a fresh design for once in a while. Interesting seat design, especially the right knee extension. I can see people getting their fingers caught at the bottom of the steering wheel. :chuckles: The interior is somewhat Supra-esque, with it being completely driver oriented. Wonder if those are reverse roof scoops or just a sculpted design...

I think we may see something based on that -- it's not all that far fetched. It may not quite make 400 hp, but the idea of a green sports car certainly fits their "moving forward" mantra, and I think there's definitely a market for it.

I wonder what nameplate it will wear, tho'.

Would be kind of cool if they developed two versions based on that concept, with a scaled down one bearing the Celica plate and the suped up version labeled Supra, just like in the good old days (wistful sigh).

Seems possible, definatly seems like the route Toyota would take. Has a lot of influences mixed into the body style..

Anyway, "We feel there's a hole in our lineup," says Kevin Hunter, the vice president of Calty Design Research. "Toyota hasn't had a sports car since the Supra was dropped in 1997. We need some emotional punch in our lineup, a halo product."
 Lookin' good! At least they're making the effort and realize they need a head of teh fleet car!

"If Toyota builds it, will they come?"
Keep it in that price range, with 400hp, FvCK YEA!

that thing is crazy looking. Toyota for sure needs to step it up with a new "sports" car that can compete with nissan. Its been 10 years almost....
