Ummm, yeah, when I put mine in I had to take out all of the rear trunk plastics, its really not a big deal though. I wasnt that hard at all, and yes you do need to cut some slots for the brace, but the instructions come with a cutout template.

if i got a rear strut brace i'd simply just take out the rear plastics.. unless your concerened with the cosmetics of your trunk it shouldnt be a big deal.. I guess im just one for being able to return the car to stock.

No, those are the plastic door guard strips you can get for like 3 bucks at any auto store or Wal-Mart. I just cut them to fit with a good pair of scissors. :)
