TVR to launch 600bhp supercar

New supercharged carbon fibre Typhoon gestates

TVR is to launch a supercar at the Geneva motor show next spring.

It'll be called the Typhoon, and will feature TVR's all-aluminium Speed Six engine, supercharged to produced 600bhp. The carbon-fibre body ensures that it'll be expensive, TVR spokesman Jason Oxley saying that, although a retail price has yet to be fixed, around

Russian businessman Nikolai Smolenski is back in charge of the failed TVR business - and looks set to move production abroad.

The deal was announced on Thursday evening, after the administrators PKF Partners struck a deal with Smolenski to buy TVR's assets for an undisclosed sum, thought to be in excess of

You'll go deaf in 3 months, it will fall apart in 6 months and you won't figure out what half the buttons do (if anything), but don't worry because you'll kill yourself the first week. If you can manage not to crash it you won't ever be able to sell it.

And speaking of cost, it's 50,000 British pounds or $107,382.00, which coincidentally is almost the exact MSRP of a Porsche 911 turbo. The corvette tested in top gear isn't a Z06 either. It's basically 50k base model, inarguably at least half of the price of the TVR (not even counting fvck-me-in-the-ass import costs). The comparison isn't very apt, it's like comparing an STi to a Civic Si, this isn't Top Gear's best test.

go ahead and throw your money down a hole, they'll never be a successful car company. Ask its string of former owners why they sold.
