I live in the Las Vegas, Nevada area and would love to see, in person, how my Vibe GT stacks up against a Celica GT-S. The magazines put them a few 1/10ths apart, making it a drivers race... But as someone pointed out in another thread, you can't go by the mags.
So incase you haven't guessed yet, I'm looking for a Celica GT-S in the Las Vegas area... I've had the Vibe a few months and during this time have NEVER seen a GT-S in the Vegas area. I've seen a lot of the GT around, never lined up with one though... If any of you have a GT and think you'll spank my Vibe GT, that's fine too.
Perhaps a mini-meet at the LVMS Drag Strip? :headbang:

1: Maybe Celica 1zz/2zz engines have Denso Iridium sparks? But I'm pretty positive that my sparks aren't stock, whether it effects anything or not.
2: I knew your point was partly that everything except I/E meant squat, but as you so kindly pointed out, suspension does make a difference. The rest is just weight in a straight line race, you're correct, thought aftermarket rims are perhaps a bit lighter?
3: You've been aggressive since this whole thing started, all I said from post ONE was that I wanted to see what would happen in person... But you feel the need to turn this into the same stupid little argument that goes on all over the forum? The point in this thread was to END the argument, not to start it. As much as you'd LOVE to believe it, a Celica owning a Vibe is not common sense. Anyway, what more do you want from me? I want a FUN race and comparison and all you want to do is argue about whether I'll get beat by 1 car length or 7, I already said I wouldn't be surprised to lose, ok? Just drop it now.
4: You just admitted that the drag on the two cars under 60mph is minimal, I believe that is more or less the exact same thing as me saying that below 60mph the drag is negligable. I never said there was ABSOLUTELY NO difference between the two below 60, just that it's so minimal it doesn't make that much of a difference... But yes, if you were to measure the drag from the second you leave the line, it is there and it is a factor... Just not a big one.

Not one of you guys in Vegas? =-o

I havent been agressive. You are just too sensitive if a persons comments on the internt affect you. A persons tone on the internet is hard to depict.

Aftermarket rims CAN be lighter but unless you pay big bucks, are usually heavier.

best thing to do is stop asking for someone to come race u.. if u want to try it that bad y dont u go find someone and race..
How do you figure? I thought a huge, active Celica community would be the best place to find a Celica in Vegas that would be interested in comparing. Also, if you even read my first post, you'd see that I've NEVER seen a GT-S in Vegas. Maybe the best thing to do is if you don't want to race me and have nothing productive to say (such as yourself), don't say anything.

"Because you said so? Because you think so? Math and common sense elude you"... I'm afraid I can't imagine a tone that would make that pleasant.

I'm afraid you are wrong. Perhaps there is some technicality that the Vibe comes with more options for less $ but as far as the cars go they have the exact same engine and weigh the same amount. The ratings on the engines have changed somewhat, however. In '03 Pontiac and Toyota were rating both cars at 180hp, since then that rating has dropped... With Toyota rating their '05 Matrix at only 164hp and Pontiac rating their '05 Vibe GT at 170hp. Lift engagement has been raised 300rpm every year after '03 (up from 6200rpm in '03), this may account for the lower HP rating.

According to Toyota.com the '05 Matrix XRS weighs 2800lbs.
According to Pontiac.com the '05 Vibe GT weighs 2780lbs.
If anything the Pontiac is lighter.
I believe the sae hp calculations have changed for the year 2005 which could explain the different readings? Why the matrix is different i have no idea why.

Well you were just SAYING things without evidence or when they were still being logically conrtadicted.

As far as looking for a race, I think asking on here wasnt such a bad idea.

Hehehe... He doesn't need any luck! I know he'll take the Vibe GT easy... But the question is: How easy? MUAHAHAHAHA!

I like to see this on vids. There a guy living around where I live is funny claiming his Corolla XRS is handing GT-S owner their arse. Maybe local have seen him, black corolla XRS reving off without you knowing that is a race. I find that absurd...anyways good luck hippyvibe. I alway want to see how our car cousin stack up against the big brother GT-S!

Tell him this. The Celica is lighter. Has more HP. Better lift band. better overall powerband. If he still believes himself, then it is alost case.

First off, Andx, offering to race a car that has the same engine as you but weighs more when you have a turbo and they don't is pretty pathetic if you ask me.
And as for you NorulzAt140Mph, you never have anything pleasant to say... EVER! You're like the voice of death. And the thing that makes it so much worse, is most of the time you don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about. On Celicas with lift engagement at 6200rpm there is NO more horsepower than an '03 Vibe GT. An '05 Celica GT-S should not have any HP over an '05 Corolla XRS, but I don't own a Corolla so I'm gonna do what you should have and refrain from stepping out of my realm of knowledge. But as far as the Celica GT-S is concerned when compared with the Vibe GT, there is DEFINITELY NO "better lift band" or "overall powerband"... You got one thing right though, it is lighter... But that's about it. You should really invest in some research before you stick your foot in your mouth. Some of you Celica guys think that it must be some kind of knock-off 2zz just because it isn't in your cars! Well an '05 Lotus Elise, as most of you already know, has a 2zz and is running mid 13s and it' no Celica =-P
Could you surprise me one day and post something productive?

I agree that an '00 Celica GT-S most definitely has more than just a weight advantage over an '03 Vibe GT (i.e: lift engagement). Isn't it enough that Celicas with 6200rpm lift are close to 300lbs lighter than a Vibe GT? Do you really have to go fabricating lies for yourself about how you have a "better powerband" and "liftband"?

As far as the stroker kit... Haven't been able to find anyone with it on matrixowners.com =-(
Still trying to decide whether to go NA all the way or set my sights on a turbo.

Hey genious. Prove anything I have said wrong. Also, I was not talking about the Vibe in my last comment. The Corolla XRS is A DETUNED GTS.
