well today I was TRYING to change out my thermostat, but guess what?? Can't get the belt tensioner bolt to budge. So a friend came over and told me that my thermostat is fine its my water pump thats not working. He said that since my thermostat tube is cold and my other tube coming out of the motor entering the radiater is hot water is getting circulating. Well now I'm really pissed. So is he correct? is my water pump really gone. then how much will it cost to get fixed??? O yeah when my car gets hot my fans don't work either. Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Odd, usually when the waterpump fails it has a weephole that will dump coolant. Check around the waterpump area to see if there's any traces of coolant loss. Only other waterpump failure I know of on the Celica is a broken impeller, but usually it's a blade that breaks off, not the entire impeller.
Are you sure that it's not the other way around with the fans, the car overheats because the fan doesn't turn on?

When it gets hot it doesn't turn on. I orginally thought it was my thermostat until I noticed that my fan wasn't working. So after that I thoguht it was both and then my friend tells me its my water pump. So what should I do about my fan. Change out fuses? Replace the fans?? Help. I need my car bad. I mean I'm already swapping out my tranny this weekend.

I don't think mine is seeping at all though. I'm just trying to narrow this down. I mean I was ready to change my thermostat until I figured I can't get the belt tensioner bolt loosen. After I kept over heating I suspected my fans not working. So I don't really know what to do .I really want to be able to change out my thermostat, but can't get this damn bolt loosen.
