I was reading on spyderchat and there is a lot of discussion about how horrible the 1zz engine is. It seems that the 1zz engine has a higher failure rate than the American school system. They are plagued by spun rods and failures resulting from the catalytic converters. I found a post from a guy who was on his 5th engine in just over 48,000 miles! One guy's engine failed after less than 6,000 km!

I know that the Celica GT runs the 1zz, as does many other toyotas. My question is: Do all 1zz's have this high of a failure rate? or is it a MRS thing?
