It's indeed a 2JZ-GE, slightly detuned in the IS300 to about 215hp. The one in the Supra and SC300 where the ones rated at 220 and 225 hp. If I recall correctly, the latter use the aluminum block while the IS300 uses the iron block version.

Didn't the is300 come with two variants the n/a a 1uzfe the other 2jzgte tt?

which is why it can hold lotsa boost once you fix the weak pistons.

actually, the stock 2jz-ge in the Lexus is good for around 500 whp, so that's plenty.

Uhm...nope. The 1UZ-FE is the 4.0L DOHC V8 from the LS/GS400. Toyota has never used turbocharged engines in any of the Lexus-badged vehicles (they have used them in the JDM versions but those were never badged as Lexus vehicles, just Toyotas), so the IS300 never had the 2JZ-GTE engine. If you find any IS300 with either engine it's a swap.

Doing a quick wiki search will give you information about a swap a shop did using the Aristo's motor. Toyota never did this themselves.
