alright im just about to pull the trigger for coilovers, and im trying to decide between d2 coilovers for 812+45 shipping
or bc racing coilovers for 999 and free shipping i believe

from research i learned that these two coilovers are very similar, so should i just go for the d2's?
any input on this? is one better than the other? they both look similar lol

so this means the BC's will be a direct replacement while the d2 i will need to reuse my stock mounts in the rear?

im debating going to kamspeed and getting the extreme drop kit, but 1000 is out of my budget and i wanted to buy them tonight :marky: lol

I'm surprised how well my BC's ride given the high spring rates I have. I've never ridden on anything else to compare though.

Just had my BCs installed yesterday, and love the ride. Its still hard on the crappy roads, but overall love it! Im not even close to maxing out my height, but I didnt want to go too low though.

bc vs d2 coilovers

I'm on 8/12 with poly bushings and sway bars. It's pretty crazy around corners. Really likes to pull around.

At first you'll think 'OMG WTF DID I DO TO MY CAR!?' but later when you get some time around a twisty road and become comfortable with the car again you'll love it. Are you doing bushings and sway bars as well or just the coil overs?

For me they did, but that's because my rear toe adjusters were seized and I couldn't align the car...also the large rear bushings at the fronts of the arms were shit and almost detached from the sleeves. Front bushings were together but aged and soft and the stock rack bushings are very very compliant at 100K+ miles. Depends what your intentions are with the car. If you just want low for looks, don't bother. If you're after improved handling and predictable response then do them. Sway bars make a HUGE difference in how the car handles, as big as coils.

that's why i was leaning towards the bc's, they're basically dropped in, instead of having to reuse the old suspensions tophats and what not

with the extreme drop kit, what would the springs come with if i ordered them from kamispeed with just the "extreme" drop kit selected, would they still be the 5/6k f/r springs?

would 5k/6k be good for extreme drop, and about a 3 inch drop, or should i consider getting a higher spring rate? i'm using it as a daily so i dont want something thatll rattle my spine over every bump..

ive installed the regular BR's with 8/9k theyre fine daily driving.
Yeah BC's are easier if you're DIY because you wont need a spring compressor.
I also think the front strut sleeve that mounts to the hub is a better design and easier to dial in than the D2/Ksport.

With the extreme drop kit, you'd most likely need higher spring rates to compensate for going lower. With the D2's you'll get the same drop. I have D2's with 6kg springs all around and my damper settings at 18 clicks all around. I was surprised at how comfy the ride is for coilovers.

I'm biased towards D2's. It was between ksports and D2's for me...I went with the latter because everyone has Ksports on their 'rolla's.

I've been happy with my BC's. Even my 65yr old mother doesn't think they ride that bad, but she didn't like how they rode.
